Whew!!

Talk about chaos lately!  I think my last post was about little E getting sick and it hasn't slowed down since then!
I've been taking a class the past two weeks to earn credits toward license renewal.  It's not so bad, I guess, except a little on the annoying side that we have to pay someone else to take up our vacation time.  Oh, and it's amazing how many people stay teacher butt-kissers even as adults.
After not much activity, we have had showing after showing for the house in the past week.  Showings are always stressful, too.  Trying to make sure the house is perfect while getting yourself, two kids, and two dogs ready and out of the house in the morning can be a little challenging.
I had Parker at urgent care yesterday after his temp kept creeping higher and higher, even with Advil.  By the time we got to the office it was 103.2.  HOLY FEVER!!  He got some antibiotics and, after getting his fever to come down a little bit, was starting to feel better.  He made sure to remind me that the doc said "ice cream, popcicles, and juice, mommy".  P and I didn't get much sleep last night while he still battled temps over 102, but he is much better today!  Thank goodness!
And as for Emersen...I am questioning whether we have entered terrible twos early, or something else is going on.  This usually cheerful, friendly little one is a total grouch!  You know those times I talked about losing my patience?  This is one of those times.  I don't think there is a second in the day she isn't whining, screaming "no", or crying about something.  Don't even think about bedtime or bath!  She used to love both and never protested!  Ever since getting sick last week she hasn't been the same.  I don't get it!
I'm really looking forward to my last day of class tomorrow, some time with my family, 4th of July festivities and some sun!  There aren't too many stressful weeks that can't be cured by those, right?

worry

It's always a worry when your kids get sick.  E has been super grouchy/clingy the last few days and, sure enough, ended up with a yucky fever today.  I was at a class all day and when I went to pick up the kids from Grandmas she had just woken up with a raging temp.  I took her to the urgent care place because her usual office was already closed.  We paced the floor for 3hrs. before finally seeing the doc.  She drifted in and out of sleep, limp, hot and sweaty, and crying out ever so often.  I worry so much when they are sick like that!

We ended up with a script for antibiotics (again), had to go get some blood drawn (terrible), and got to attatch a bag to her at home that catches her pee (interesting).

Here's to some healthy vibes!

Thank you, summer!

Yesterday we started off the day with Parker's soccer game.  He is finally picking up the idea that soccer involves running after the ball.  He is so cute to watch and such a grown up little man now!

My parents came for a visit, too.  We took them to a watershed preserve near our house to walk the trails.  It must have been nature day or something, because we saw a deer, a fox, and a momma turtle trying to lay her eggs!  The kids loved every minute!

We finished off the night with a fire in the backyard complete with hotdogs, corn on the cob, and smores,of course.  Everybody stayed up waaay too late, but little kids (and grown kids) had a blast!

The day was packed full of family fun.  I'm so thankful to have days like these!  This is what life is about!

People are awesome

I have witnessed some pretty amazing things in the past few days that I think are worth the sharing.

I saw a male/female riding a bike down a busy street in town wearing a head to toe black spandex unitard.  Like, face totally covered.  I wish I had a picture so I could share the humor in the sighting.

There was a young mom at the soccer fields with THE BIGGEST tattoo-covered muffin top hanging out of her teeny jean shorts.  You know those kids puzzles that you can mix and match the face, middle, and legs of different people slash animals?  It was like that because her legs were uber skinny underneath that muffin.

There was a tornado warning out when the kiddos and I were at the library and they made us go into this small room with the other people to wait out the storm.  There was a guy there that reminded me of a character from Napoleon Dynamite that latched on to us right away.  He started chatting about the kids and went directly into his newfound love of the polish club that meets there.  "You don't even have to speak the language.  Sometimes people just bring artifacts from Poland and show them.  It's so great!"  I felt a little guilty that I lacked his enthusiasm.

Ok, so this one wasn't in the last few days, but I had a mom of a little one in my class write me a note requesting bathroom breaks whenever her child needed.  She proceeded to tell me IN DETAIL how her little angel had become constipated, was given a laxative, and would probably need to use the restroom suddenly.  Umm, sick.  But awesome.

confessions

We had spaghettios tonight for dinner.  Yes, I did try to "round out" the food groups with some green beans and strawberries, but as I cracked open the can I got to thinking.  There are so many things that I thought or even swore I would never do as a mom that have definately taken place.  Just a few examples...
I have used candy as a bribe .  Thank goodness for Dum Dum suckers because I wouldn't be able to make it 5 mins into a shopping trip without them.
My kids have gone to sleep without brushing their teeth.  You try waking up grouchy ones that have fallen asleep after a super busy night.
I have lost my patience and yelled at one or both.  This. kills. me.  I pray each night for an extension to my "cool".
I drive a mini van.  It's a long story, and we definately did NOT plan on it, but the grocery getter does come in handy with 2 small kids, 2 dogs, and a grown child named Husband :)

There's no mother of the year award, but I think that my munchkins will always know that I love them with all my heart!

oxymoron

Having kids is definately a beautiful disaster.  Your life is changed for the better with those little joys...but HOLY HELL how it changes your body (insert disaster part)!  On that note, I'm going to the Y to work out.

Emmers is 18 months!

Where does the time go??  It's hard to believe that this little Emersen Jean is a year and a half already!  She is such a happy, independent little girl and already has quite the personality.  Here are some of her favorite things:

1.  Her brother-Every morning, the first thing she asks for is "Pahka".

2.  Bugs-She squeals with joy when she spots one.

3.  Green beans-I've never seen a kid power down so many of these veggies in one sitting.

4.  Singing and dancing

5.  Playing with the boys-she is def. a little tomboy!

We love this little lady!

Let's give it a try!

I haven't had the best track record with technology, but there's always room for improvement, right?  Why now?  Too many people insist that it really is very easy...and there's nothing on TV right now.  Well, I'm gonna branch out and give this blogging thing a try. Wish me luck!
