Suits
Stu and I took the kids to the water park the other day and, as usual, it's always awesome people watching. This led me to the current post of...BATHING SUITS. It really is an interesting subject because I wonder how people manage to choose their suits before they enter public!!! Definately a self esteem booster!
These crazy mutts
I put the doggies in the bathroom instead of the usual cage because it was 27389567 degrees outside when we left to run an errand the other night. When we came back, the silly Ernie had pulled the rug down from the place I hid it and shredded it up, trying to lay on it. This has happened more times than I can count and I think he is trying to set a record for the amount of money spent on rugs in one single bathroom. As annoying as this is, you can't help but love him. ;)

Kids say the funniest things!
I love the word mix-ups Mr. Parker makes. I had to share a few of the latest:
sumbrella (umbrella)
gooey (buoy)
sunscream (enough said, and very fitting in my house)
air elarm (alarm)
To escape any raised eyebrows, I need to explain this one. Grandma and Grandpa went to Kentucky and picked up some Burbon Ball candy for the adults. P really wanted to try "one of those burpin' balls"
I'm SUPER glad he fixed the mix up for " go in that D erection"
:)

So much to be thankful for!
Before school was out, Emersen and Parker were in to the Doc for having temps for a few days. He told us he couldn't find a reason for the temps, but on E's exam he heard a pretty kickin heart murmur. Uh, WHAT? I was freaking out. I know some people have murmurs and it's no biggie, but I didn't know why she had one all of a sudden and never mentioned before. He said we needed to wait until she was feeling better and see if it was still audible. Well, we ended up back at the office with a double ear infection a week later--still murmur. Her 18 mo check was three weeks later--still murmur, and she wasn't sick anymore. The doctor sent us to get an EKG and a chest x-ray done and referred us to see a pediatric cardiologist. We got the tests done right away, but the wait for a specialist is always forever. We were scheduled for August. Weeeellll, then she gets sick again (see previous posts) and her murmur is soooo loud it is scaring the crap out of Stu and I. We called and asked if there was a different office we could get into sooner. Luck!
Yesterday was the big day. We got right in and the spunky nurse that greeted us was actually the doctors wife. They were very nice and calmed our nerves quickly. The doctor looked over the tests and labs she had previously done, took concerns of ours, and asked lots of questions. He listened to little Emmy's chest for a long time then did an echocardiogram in the room. She was such a trooper through the whole thing (and loved every second of the sucker treat). So the bottom line...in about 15% of his patients, extra muscle is attached like a guitar string (chordae). This is a functional murmur because the heart function is normal, it just makes extra murmur noise. The noise is louder when her heart beats faster, as in fever, more motion, or heat. He watched a spot on the echo test for a possible pinhole, but wasn't worried about it because it's not something they would even fix. He wants to see her back in a year for a check up, but said she looks great! WOOOHOOO! That was such a relief! We have so much to be thankful for!

Whew!!
Talk about chaos lately! I think my last post was about little E getting sick and it hasn't slowed down since then!
I've been taking a class the past two weeks to earn credits toward license renewal. It's not so bad, I guess, except a little on the annoying side that we have to pay someone else to take up our vacation time. Oh, and it's amazing how many people stay teacher butt-kissers even as adults.
After not much activity, we have had showing after showing for the house in the past week. Showings are always stressful, too. Trying to make sure the house is perfect while getting yourself, two kids, and two dogs ready and out of the house in the morning can be a little challenging.
I had Parker at urgent care yesterday after his temp kept creeping higher and higher, even with Advil. By the time we got to the office it was 103.2. HOLY FEVER!! He got some antibiotics and, after getting his fever to come down a little bit, was starting to feel better. He made sure to remind me that the doc said "ice cream, popcicles, and juice, mommy". P and I didn't get much sleep last night while he still battled temps over 102, but he is much better today! Thank goodness!
And as for Emersen...I am questioning whether we have entered terrible twos early, or something else is going on. This usually cheerful, friendly little one is a total grouch! You know those times I talked about losing my patience? This is one of those times. I don't think there is a second in the day she isn't whining, screaming "no", or crying about something. Don't even think about bedtime or bath! She used to love both and never protested! Ever since getting sick last week she hasn't been the same. I don't get it!
I'm really looking forward to my last day of class tomorrow, some time with my family, 4th of July festivities and some sun! There aren't too many stressful weeks that can't be cured by those, right?

worry
It's always a worry when your kids get sick. E has been super grouchy/clingy the last few days and, sure enough, ended up with a yucky fever today. I was at a class all day and when I went to pick up the kids from Grandmas she had just woken up with a raging temp. I took her to the urgent care place because her usual office was already closed. We paced the floor for 3hrs. before finally seeing the doc. She drifted in and out of sleep, limp, hot and sweaty, and crying out ever so often. I worry so much when they are sick like that!
We ended up with a script for antibiotics (again), had to go get some blood drawn (terrible), and got to attatch a bag to her at home that catches her pee (interesting).
Here's to some healthy vibes!

Thank you, summer!
Yesterday we started off the day with Parker's soccer game. He is finally picking up the idea that soccer involves running after the ball. He is so cute to watch and such a grown up little man now!
My parents came for a visit, too. We took them to a watershed preserve near our house to walk the trails. It must have been nature day or something, because we saw a deer, a fox, and a momma turtle trying to lay her eggs! The kids loved every minute!
We finished off the night with a fire in the backyard complete with hotdogs, corn on the cob, and smores,of course. Everybody stayed up waaay too late, but little kids (and grown kids) had a blast!
The day was packed full of family fun. I'm so thankful to have days like these! This is what life is about!
